Amazing Agility Pig
Louie lobbies for spot on canine team

Louie the pot-bellied pig was special when he would race to the agility field to watch her dogs train. His own aptitude for the sport became clear when she attempted to teach a dog to run through a tunnel and Louis zipped through it instead. Now nine months old, he is campaigning for a spot on the canine display team, which competes at the prestigious Crufts dog show. Do you think a pig should be allowed to compete in agility competitions?

I think if the pig can do all the same obstacle then of course he should get to join the team!!! That's awesome! There is also rat agility on youtube that is very cool! And I've heard of bunny agility trials!

How about a demo for all to love! For his safety it would be good if he is really out there without another competitor ready at the in gate. We know this won't last because it will become physically impossible but go for it now and enjoy it. Pigs are as smart as dogs for sure and I have a Standard Poodle with a CDX

Love it! But I have an uneasy feeling he will struggle with the fences in his height bracket once he is full grown ...

I say, if he can do it and loves to do it, then let him go for it. As long as he is able to run the course without injury as he grows then he should be allowed to continue. It is a great way for the public to see what smart animals pigs really are. Allowing him to participate won't negatively affect any other agility competitors or diminish the respect for the sport.

Hooray for Louie! And for his patient and loving trainer.
