Did you see the documentary Mine? Incredible inside look at the pet rescue system during Katrina and how totally screwed up post Katrina lost pet placement really was. I'm so glad there are laws now to protect families and their pets during disasters.
so happy that someone else noticed that pets were included in the Isaac rescues....I knew of someone who was forced to leave their beloved dog behind in Katrina's aftermath -- so horrendous to endure not knowing about your life companion -- she was microchipped and they were reunited .... but this was an exceptional rescuer (went back independently to save dogs, despite police curfew and warnings)
Don't they say "pets are people, too"??
