Slobbering Good Deeds
An easy way to donate toys to shelters

In their new book Dirty Bow Wow, Cheryl and Jeffrey Katz celebrate roughed up, stinky toys only a dog could love. In every photo and story is the message: toys help delight, engage and comfort dogs. So imagine the difference plushy bones or squeaking squirrels can make in the lives of shelter dogs.

DogToys.com provides an easy way to spread the joy. Simply add one or more tugging, teething, fetching or snuggle toy to your shopping cart and designate the shelter of your choice (you’ll need the address). The donations are shipped directly to the needy organization and good Samaritan shoppers receive a 5 percent discount on the order.

Keep in mind, many shelters provide donation wish lists on their websites, and PetFinder.com is a good place to locate a deserving shelter near you.
