Subaru Dog Driving Lessons
April Fools!
Painting by Connie Townsend

On April Fools Day, my sons swapped the contents of our cereal boxes. When I tried to pour my daily serving of boring grown-up bran cereal, my bowl filled with some kind of Gorilla Crunch cereal. That’s about the extent of the jokes at our house, but we enjoyed the joke that Subaru carried out enough to make up for our own lack of creativity.

Subaru announced on the first of this month that they would start offering driving lessons to dogs. According to their information, instruction would focus on basic operations related to vehicles, such as applying the hand brake and turning on emergency lights. If these basic driving lessons proved successful, the company stated that they would offer more advanced classes.

Apparently there was some confusion and this joke was taken seriously by some. I guess that just shows that Subaru has a reputation for being ultra-dog friendly!
