If you’re sitting at your desk after a weekend that was too short on a day that’s too overcast for August, you might want to cue up the Dallas Morning News’ video coverage of PETCO’s fifth annual Chihuahua race in Dallas, Tex. (Warning: If you’re at the office, turn your sound down. Also, be prepared to sit through a short pre-advert.) I couldn’t really tell what was happening but from the look of things, neither could the dogs. This is my kind of controlled chaos. Still, a fawn-colored pup named Charlie figured it out and broke from the pack to earn a medal (to the Chariots of Fire soundtrack) and may join more teeny, tiny runners in New York City at the finals on Aug. 29. (Read about Charlie and other furry sprinters .)
