Story
Meet Kona! A majestic 4-year-old Anatolian Shepherd hailing from Altadena, California, but with a heart eager to find a new home, no matter where it may be! Kona is a spirited companion who finds joy in the simple pleasures of life: chewies, balls, leisurely walks, and the exhilaration of a good run. Her loyalty knows no bounds as she faithfully trails her loved ones and luxuriates in the comfort of a lounge chair for her well-deserved rest. In her quest for a new abode, Kona seeks a tranquil environment where she can thrive with understanding and compassion, fostering her need for independence. While she may display territorial aggression in the familiar confines of her home, Kona reveals her friendly nature in neutral spaces like boarding facilities. Her only anxiety stems from unfamiliar voices intruding upon her sanctuary, making her yearn for a household that cherishes privacy and limits visitors. Despite her formidable demeanor, Kona possesses a gentle disposition toward young children and exudes boundless energy, making her an ideal playmate for an active family. Her crate-trained manners, up-to-date vaccinations, spaying, microchipping, and impeccable house training attest to her readiness to embark on a new chapter in life! However, prospective caretakers should be prepared for Kona's strong-willed nature, requiring a confident handler to guide her with patience and firmness. A fenced yard offers the perfect setting for her to explore and expend her considerable vigor safely. For those captivated by Kona's charm and eager to offer her a loving home, inquiries can be directed to adopt@joyfulpets.com. Learn more about this extraordinary canine companion and discover the joys of welcoming Kona into your family!

Story
Astrid is a LARGE Armenian Gampr weighing in at a healthy 150 pounds. At 3 years old, Astrid is still a puppy at heart and seems to be unaware of her larger than life size. More often than not she can be found lost in her own world, running around, jumping in the air trying to catch some wind under her paws. Astrid must have a vivid imagination as she loves to just hang out on her own, keeping herself entertained. She enjoys simple things like a dip in the kiddie pool and a fluffy squeaky toy. Astrid is an amazing dog and a staff favorite at the Burbank Animal Shelter.

Story
Blankie was surrendered to us because his family was moving to an apartment and could not bring Blankie with them. Blankie grew up with a 4 year old and he has proved to be a somewhat gentle giant but still acts like a puppy at times. If he were to go to a family with kids they will be required to meet Blankie before we can approve and adoption. Furthermore, Blankie will need a home with access to a medium to large sized yard so he can stretch his very long legs (also 6` secure fencing is a must). Blankie grew up as the only animal in the household, however we have carefully socialized him with dogs here at the shelter. We believe he prefers female dogs that can handle him playing rough and rowdy but don`t try to overcorrect him.Blankie is extremely sweet and affectionate, he loves being pet and getting scritches once he has done a patrol of the play yard. He will need a minimum of 45 mins-1 hr of exercise everyday. He is a very strong boy and will need a strong owner as well as someone patient enough to put some work into training him. Blankie was kept as a backyard dog so he will need to be acclimated to being in a home with a family as well as will need to be potty trained.Blankie LOOOOOOOVES WATER and can frequently be found playing and sliding around in a kiddie pool in our play yard. He would prefer an adopter who is willing to provide this water time for him rather than someone who would try to break him and water up.

Story
Rescued from an area shelter, Wyatt had come in as a stray. They suspected that he had been attacked because of the multiple injuries and lacerations on him. He also had hundreds of foxtails embedded in his fur that took days and finally a medicated bath to clear out. When we saw the photos sent out by the shelter, we knew that we had to help. Through it all, Wyatt has been sweet and very tolerant of all the handling he needed, even by strangers. This handsome boy is 1 year and was in desperate need of some extra TLC and medical care. We are happy to report that he is healthy. He is meeting lots of new friends, human and dog, and seeks out affection and play. He loves toys, which he likes to carry, toss and de-stuff himself. He is comfortable on the soft couch and dog-bed but he also likes hanging out in the backyard. Wyatt is gaining the confidence, training and experience a youngster needs. He is housetrained, neutered and up to date on all his vaccinations. He is not going to be the dog to go on long walks or hikes but he will enjoy playtime with other dogs. He can adjust his playstyle but he really likes playing with other rough and tumble dogs. If you are looking for a very sweet, affectionate boy who is looking to love and be loved, then Wyatt is your guy.
